Finally A Day Cold Enough

To be able to have the new furnace run at temperatures hot enough to not build up massive amounts of creosote.  Saving money on the oil now!

A Perfect Loop

You can't even tell where the loop resets.

Of course this player only plays it one time, to get the real effect you need to download and play it in repeat mode in an external player.

Bus Fire

No, not my route & no one was hurt. 9 students, driver and monitor all evacuated in plenty of time.

Needless to say however,  Tuesday afternoon was rather exciting.

This has to make one wonder if the company's insistence on running an aged fleet in attempts to save money is really worth it to the school districts that contract with them.

I am actually rather relieved that my daughter doesn't HAVE to ride their buses.

Outline by Shrinking Background in The Gimp

On Ubuntu 14.04

An Alternate way of outlining a graphic.

As in the last two posts, if you require the HD .MP4 please let me know. This video is 15.3MB

Clean Up Artifacts After Outlining

Gimp on Ubuntu 14.04

As in the last post, If you would like the HD .MP4 video of this tutorial please let me know and I can forward it to you. This clip is 26MB.

Outline Simple Graphics Using The Gimp

On Ubuntu 14.04

GNU Image Manipulation Program  Is the Linux alternative to Photoshop and in some ways is even superior to it. Some say that there is a steeper learning curve to The Gimp, but since this is what I learned on, Photoshop seems totally alien to me.
Please keep in mind that although The Gimp is cross-platform I am running Ubuntu Linux so there will be some subtle differences in appearance if you are on Windows, however the end result would be the same.

The quality of the video is poor due to bloggers restraints, if you want to download the video in HD.MP4 drop me a note here or email me and I will zip it to you. This video 16.4MB

Screencast

This is a real-time screen capture... I did not speed it up.

The speed of this machine compared to any of the other ones I have is unbelievable.

Lovin' The New Cruiser!

HP Desktop Computer EliteDesk 8100 Intel Core i5 650 (3.2 GHz) 8 GB DDR3 2 TB HDD Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit

Got it for $259     from Newegg a week ago.
Dumped Windows and Installed Ubuntu 14.04 64bit and KUbuntu 14.04 64bit and this thing rocks!
I have been lagging behind on my own tech chugging along with the old P-4's and Atoms... NO MORE!  This i5 doesn't even break 86 deg F when playing 4 movies across 4 desktops AND boots to my fully functional Unity desktop in only 16 seconds!   and into the fully functional KDE desktop in only 22 seconds!     It lacks USB3.0 , but I can live with that, could always add a PCI card if i need to.

Starting A New Project

I have decided to create a separate Blog for the sake of separating what is real and what is not. Not that furries aren't real, but it just adds a layer of separation between my personal posts and those that are meant purely in jest with my furry friends. While my posts on the new line will be generally clean, I cannot speak for any links or artwork that may be present on other sites that I link to.  At any rate, I am launching my new blog called "The Fur Side" and as it is still being developed please 'bear' with me while I adjust the 'fur' for the right look. ;P

First Of My Decals Applied

To the Matrix

Difficult to believe

that it is actually

warm enough on

December 12th to

be able to get the

hose out and wash

the car and apply

decals.

Will wait 'til spring for the two larger ones though... need much more warmth

for them to allow conformation of the vinyl to the curves of the car.

Teaching Basics of The Gimp

To My 8-year old Daughter

I let her pick out the graphic (the black & white part) and showed her how to add transparency and layers or color using The Gimp (GNU Image Manipulation Program ... cross platform Big Brother to Photo-shop) to create the sticker she wanted to print.

Next I will have to show her how to clean up the relics (off colored areas between the colors) but she did OK for the first attempt.

A Glimpse Behind The Mask of the Furry Community

Nicely Done Matt Baume

Media is not generally so positive about the furry community. In this videos Matt opens the caring and helpful side of the furries to the public in a way that broadcast media never has as they seem to be all about dwelling on the bad aspects which are actually an extremely small portion of the community.  Thank You Matt

All The Possibilities

Keeping Fingers Crossed...

I have submitted a series of Short Stories to a publisher for consideration for publishing at their request after having submitted a Book that I now have to rework a bit before re-submiting.  Don't look for them under my name, you won't find them as I have them written under a Pen Name. If they actually publish I will be floored to say the least and will at that time release my Pen Name, but until then I'll keep you guessing, if you are not into "Furry Fandom"  it is unlikely you would really care for the stories anyway... they are what they are. Although they are more mild than some stories out there, they are something that most non-furs just don't get. So! I will update the progress when progress is known.
